I am a Research Scientist currently working at the University of Michigan, Life Sciences Institute in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I was born in Pickering, Ontario, Canada and moved to Calgary, Alberta, Canada where I attended Bishop Carroll High School.
Upon graduation I completed a Bachelor's of Science in Biochemistry in the Department of Biological Sciences of the University of Calgary. During this time, I had my first laboratory experience as an Undergraduate thesis student with Dr. David Waisman. In short order I had caught the research bug and prepared for an advanced degree in biological sciences.
I did my doctoral work with Dr. Greg Moorhead in Biochemistry in the Department of Biological Sciences of the University of Calgary. Greg is an expert in protein phosphorylation, especially protein serine/threonine phosphatases. During this time I worked on the identification and characterization of several protein phosphatases in mammalian cells.
Since 2005, I have been a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Dr. Alan Saltiel's Laboratory at the Life Sciences Institute of the University of Michigan. Click here for my current research interests.
